Parents’ influence on their children’s food preferences

New research sheds light on how parents can positively influence the foods their young children like. Parents that restrict less nutritious food, pressure their children to eat healthy foods or reward healthy eating behaviour can cause their children to have less healthy eating habits.

The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) has made recommendations on how parents can positively influence their young children’s diets. These include being a positive role model by eating a wide variety of fruit and vegetables and eating together as a family. Read more recommendations on the EUFIC website.
