The State of Men’s Health in Europe

A summary of the State of Men’s Health Report (PDF) was launched last week. The study compared men's health status both across and within EU Countries. Patterns emerging from the data show marked differences between the health of men and women and also large disparities in health outcomes between men in different countries and within male populations in each member state.

Life expectancy is lower for men than for women across the EU, a difference that ranges from 11.3 years for Latvia to 2.2 years in Iceland. Two of the main causes for premature death are cardiovascular disease and cancer.
