Survey on Income and Living Conditions (2010)

Preliminary results from the Survey on Income and Living Conditions 2010 in Ireland were published yesterday. The results showed that the at risk of poverty rate grew from 14.1% in 2009 to 15.8% in 2010. Amongst those at risk of poverty, almost one third of people were unable to afford a morning, afternoon or evening out in the last fortnight and to have family or friends for a drink or meal once a month.

One in ten were unable to afford a roast once a week and to adequately keep their home warm. There was a significant increase in the deprivation rate for children which was 30.2%, an increase of 7% since 2009.
