What are the estimated costs of childhood overweight and obesity on the island of Ireland?

One in four children on the island of Ireland (IOI) is overweight or obese. Research has been carried out to estimate the lifetime costs associated with excess body weight in children on the IOI.

The British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly (BIPA) have launched their report on Childhood Obesity. The report examines the scientific evidence on the causes and consequences of childhood obesity, shares best practice from across BIPA jurisdictions and makes recommendations for future obesity strategies

Too much sugar at breakfast
