Date: Friday 18 September, 2015

Venue: CAFRE, Loughry Campus, Dungannon Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone BT80 9AA, Northern Ireland

Time: 10:00am

Theme

The Institute of Global Food Security at Queen’s University Belfast jointly with University College Dublin and Teagasc Food Research Centre (in association with safefood) invite you to attend an industry event for pork and poultry company personnel on the island of Ireland.

The reputation of our food industry relies heavily on its safety and quality, and huge efforts are taken by industry to protect these hard earned accolades. As the horsemeat scandal of 2013 showed there are vulnerabilities in supply chains that can cause enormous reputational damage. This safefood project is endeavouring to develop a system that will help identify emerging risks and provide solutions.

This event is a great opportunity to hear about the final Risk Register database which will help companies keep abreast of potential and emerging food safety and authenticity risks in relation to the ingredients they source. The event will include a keynote presentation by Declan Billington (CEO John Thompson and Sons Ltd) on risk management in the animal feed sector and the successful implementation of the Food Fortress initiative.
