Chemical Residues Knowledge Network Event

Date: Friday 26 February, 2016

Venue: Maldron Hotel, Dublin Airport, K67 T6P6

Time: 9.00am - 1.00pm

Who should attend?

Food safety experts are invited to participate in a safefood workshop to conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging chemical contamination food safety risks and to consider food incident prevention.

Aim of workshop

A food safety incident is any event where, based on the information available, there are concerns about actual or suspected threats to the safety or quality of food that could require intervention to protect consumers’ interests. At both a national and international level, we are frequently faced with the need to manage food incidents varying in complexity from small localised events to those involving multiple product recalls. Responding to these incidents can be very time consuming both for risk assessors and risk managers. It is clearly in everyone’s interest to address the underlying causes of food incidents and find means of reducing them.

The ability to anticipate emerging risks of chemical contamination to food safety is a key element in enhancing the way the food industry and official bodies are able to prevent incidents or rapidly respond should they do occur.
